I graduated in Geology with subsidiary Biology and Chemistry from Bristol in 2004. Following graduation I spent 2 years as an aviation weather forecaster with the UK Met Office, before leaving science to pursue other interests (including stints as a dj and community radio presenter). I eventually remembered I wanted to be a scientist and returned to education in 2009 to build on my background in Earth, biological and atmospheric science with a masters in Earth Systems Science, graduating with distinction in 2011. This was followed by a 6 month contract as a research assistant with BRIDGE. The work begun during my masters/RA position led to a NERC-funded PhD studentship in the School of Geographical Sciences, co-supervised by Claire Paris at RSMAS, U. Miami, which I completed in March 2015. I am now employed as a post-doctoral researcher in the school of Earth Sciences.
I do get away from my computer sometimes! (even if it's just to the pub)
